Internal Line Studio is a full service design and patternmaking studio in New York City, specializing in technically rigorous and experimental clothing and accessories.
We bring experience working at brands at the forefront of menswear, with backgrounds in engineering and design. Our primary focus is in inventive pattern cutting across a wide range of technical and textured materials and fabrics, collaborating with designers on seasonal collections, one-of-one pieces for special projects, and made-to-measure tailored garments. We work closely with our clients from ideation through pattern, tech pack, samples, and fitting.

We're happy to work on any part of a project that falls under the following steps, from initial concept through to production ready samples + tech packs. We can simply take direction and execute your exact vision, or work with you every step of the way, going back and forth on design, fit and materials to develop something you're excited about. In general, our projects follow the following steps:
- 01Define project
We can do anything from help you make the perfect t-shirt to provide design guidance on and pattern a 20+ piece collection.
- 02Propose and finalize design(s)
Using whatever method is easiest for you: sketches, quick mockups and existing samples. We can also provide a range of fit samples and fit muslins in standard sample sizes, to help you get a sense of the fit you're looking at before any patterns or muslins have been made.
- 03Rapid iteration in CLO3D
Involving you with high quality renders simulated using the exact same fabrics you'll use on the final garment.
Repeat - 04Patterns + Sample(s)
We find with our own work that the first sample we make is usually extremely close to what we want due to the high fidelity nature of our 3D work. We're happy for the first sample to be a muslin or done in your ideal fabrics and trims, and we'll work around your budget and time.
- 05Finished Project
Patterns and/or samples ready to be used for whatever your project entails: ranging from production ready patterns + tech packs to finished samples for a shoot or show.
- Prices for both first samples and muslins include physical printed copies as well as digital copies ready to be exported to a factory.
- Each completed pattern is printed and handed off in person - printed pattern, cutter's must, and envelope, plus a tech pack where one is included.
- Every pattern includes one complimentary revision. Further edits are billed at the additional-revision rate below.
- Prices for samples do not include materials - we ask that all materials (fabric, trims, zippers, buttons, shoulder pads, etc.) be dropped off together in order to facilitate easier production with our partner samplemakers.
- Prices below are a range and assessed on a case by case basis, and may exceed the below ranges for more complex designs.

Timelines
Depending on our demand at the time of project inception, we typically expect to provide services in the following timeline.

Depending on the stage in the design process you are at, it is not unrealistic to expect to go from well defined idea → strong 1st sample within a month, although this can vary with demand and time of year.

$50–$75+ per hour, depending on scope. Quoted per project after a quick look at the range.

Terms of Payment
New clients require half of balance down, payment in full upon receipt of goods.
